Golf Ball- Dough Balls

August 21, 2017

Day one of Culinary School at Utah Valley University began with a thorough discussion of the class syllabus, timeline, and general overview of what was expected of us in Baking. After a flawless demonstration given by Chef KJ, we were instructed to form soft roll dough into perfect golf ball sized spheres. I learned from the first 30 minutes of that exercise that baking was not going to be as easy as it was with Mommy in the kitchen. I tried rolling, pushing, and smashing my dough to fit the given example with very little success. Finally I formed one decent looking roll dough out of the 12 I had been assigned to make. It was a humbling and slightly overwhelming class and to be honest I was very worried about my performance and how well I would be able to keep up.
